Matthiola incana StoX® Antique Rose
Perfect for Cut Flowers: StoX® Antique Rose delivers exceptional performance, offering beautiful, long-lasting blooms for bouquets and arrangements. Elevate your garden with this innovative and sophisticated stock variety!
- Elegant and Unique Color: The light, dusty-rose hue of Antique Rose is a softer alternative to Vintage Brown, bringing a refined charm to your garden or flower arrangements.
- Superior Single-Stem Stock: Designed for one-cut harvests, this variety produces sturdy, upright stems, perfect for florists and gardeners seeking high-quality blooms.
- Double-Flowering Potential: With proper selection, up to 55% of plants will produce double flowers. Cold treatment can enhance the ability to identify double-flowering plants early, as seedlings with lighter green leaves are more likely to develop double blooms.
- Cold Hardy and Adaptable: Thrives in cooler weather and can be sown early in spring or autumn. Ideal for growers looking to extend their seasonal flower offerings.
- Important Note: This variety produces one flowering stem per plant. Pinching is not recommended as it will halt flowering entirely.
Planting and Sowing:
- Days to Bloom: 90-100 days
- Height: 60 cm
- Indoor/Greenhouse Sowing: Start from February. Sow every two weeks for continuous blooms.
- Germination: 5-7 days at 18–24°C. Sow 2 seeds per cell or soil block for thinning later. Thin seedlings to ensure high-quality double blooms by removing deformed or crowded cotyledons.
- Sowing Depth: 2 mm. Lightly cover seeds with fine vermiculite to retain moisture. Ensure consistent moisture without overwatering. Light is essential for germination.
- Seedling Fertilization: After 10 days, fertilize seedlings with a 0.1% potassium nitrate solution. Later, use calcium nitrate and a balanced water-soluble fertilizer.
- Planting Location: Sunny, well-drained soil.
- Pollinator Friendly: Attracts pollinators.
- Cold Tolerance: Thrives in cool weather. Best sown early in spring or autumn. Transplant outdoors or into a greenhouse when seedlings have 4–5 true leaves.
- Usage: Excellent as a cut flower.
IMPORTANT: Do not pinch or top seedlings
