Agrostemma githago Bianca

Agrostemma githago ‘Bianca’ is a beautiful, easy-to-grow annual producing elegant, pure white blooms. Its tall, graceful stems and delicate flowers bring a soft, meadow-like charm to cottage gardens, wildflower meadows, and naturalistic planting schemes. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, this variety also attracts pollinators, making it an excellent choice for eco-friendly gardens.

Sowing Instructions:

  • Sow directly where they are to flower.
  • Prepare a fine tilth and sow seeds sparingly 12mm deep in rows spaced 30cm apart.
  • Water well and keep soil moist until germination.
  • Germination occurs in 7–14 days, with seedlings appearing in 6–8 weeks for spring sowings.
  • Thin seedlings to a spacing of 30cm once established.
  • Note: This plant is toxic to chickens and may cause miscarriage in pregnant sheep. Avoid sowing in areas grazed by livestock.

Growing Instructions:

  • Agrostemma requires minimal care.
  • No feeding is necessary, but the plant may benefit from staking in exposed conditions.
  • For best results, do not sow in pastureland or nursery meadows.
  • Maintain proper spacing and keep the soil moist during early growth stages.

Cultivation Instructions:

  • Deadhead regularly to extend the flowering period.
  • Allow a few plants to self-seed for next season, and remove other plants for composting in autumn.
  • Suitable for cutting gardens, these tall, delicate flowers are ideal for floral arrangements.

Add Agrostemma githago ‘Bianca’ to your garden for a natural touch of elegance and a low-maintenance, pollinator-friendly planting option.
